EASE OF MOVEMENT – Standard with all tub/shower replacements, I replace the plumbing from the floor up, including new shut-off valves, if possible. Likewise, the old 1 1/2″ tub drain must be upgraded to a 2″ shower drain and moved slightly. The new shower floor is always set in a sturdy mortar bed for durability and longevity. In this case, we had to correct massive amounts of wall irregularities – none of them were plumb and the back wall was too thin to accept the surround. The surround requires no caulk due to the hidden seal/flange at the seams. The new shower curb is only 3″ high, which makes entry much easier than stepping over a tub wall that is usually 16″ or higher. Additionally, we installed a sturdy grab bar to also aid in entry and exit. To top it off, we installed a high quality Sterling Finesse semi-frameless bypass sliding shower door complete with two towel bars!
