This is a cinder block construction home in Grand Ledge, Michigan. Most of the wood furring strips were in excellent shape, although a few of them below a window were rotten and had to be replaced. We first installed a 3/8″ foam insulation (Polar Shield) to add a little extra R-value as well as give a little extra backing to the vinyl siding. The new siding is Cedar Creek D-4 regular (available at Menards) and is QUITE affordable. In addition to the house, we also installed siding over the chimney to cover up years of fading and blistering paint. All in all, this place looks quite nice!
