This flat porch roof in rural Edgerton has required a coat of tar every other year for as long as I can remember (I’ve even applied some of those coats!). The homeowner asked us to find a more permanent solution to the persistent leaking issue. Our solution? A new, seamless rubber roof with a ten year warranty! We first installed a 1/2″ dense fiber board to smooth out any imperfections and create a perfect bonding surface for the glue. After laying out the rubber, adjusting, and cutting any extra edges, we glued it down with a latex bonding agent. We waited 25 minutes, then swept out any bubbles or ridges with a simple push broom. Aluminum termination bars on all edges finish the seal and complete the job. No more tar for these folks!! That stuff is just plain messy anyway…
