YIKES! This is why you MUST install ice guard membrane on AT LEAST the first 36″ of a low-pitch roof (I even recommend the entire roof). Over time, snow and ice accumulate in your gutters, and through the freezing and thawing cycle of winter, it will create a dam. This gives water nowhere to escape, except back up underneath your shingles. What happens after this?? Check out the pictures below from when we cracked this baby wide open! Again I say, YIKES! We reinforced the rafters, replaced the rotten OSB, installed ice guard membrane & new drip edge, and finally installed high-quality Owens Corning shingles to match the existing color. Let me know if I can help your roof in this season of thawing! 419-212-3200
