I have a flat rate for standard tub/shower replacement. In this circumstance, the old cast iron tub was broken apart to remove it. The old glue-on surround was in poor shape and the drywall behind it was soft and rotten. Additionally, the other two walls had plaster beneath the drywall, as well as some old 4×4 ceramic tile. All of this was removed to expose the studs for proper installation of a high quality nail-to-stud surround. Due to the extra layers and depth discrepancies, I was forced to trim out the perimeter with solid vinyl planks (rather than a standard drywall finished application). As always, I set the tub/shower floor in a sturdy mortar bed to handle any uneven sub-floor and also to create a solid feel while stepping in – zero movement! The three-piece surround requires no caulk since it has a self-sealing flange at the connection points. The tub and surround feature an ultra-gloss acrylic finish (making it very easy to clean), as well as a molded lumbar support and arm rests for bathing comfort.
