This is an old farmhouse in rural Defiance, Ohio. We completed a major two-month interior renovation, which included this kitchen. In the above picture, I am standing in the kitchen and looking through what was formerly a solid wall adjacent to the bathroom (the tub/toilet/vanity have already been removed). The homeowners dream consisted of removing this center wall to open up the kitchen into what would become a new dining area. The wall was a load-bearing wall, so we ran a double 2×12 manufactured beam across with support posts at each end. This required some extra bracing in the basement below. Once this was accomplished, we closed off a couple doorways, ran some new light fixtures/switches/outlets, and drywalled the entire room (including the ceiling). We created the new bathroom in an adjacent 12 x 12 bedroom. All things said and done, the flooring was contracted to a separate crew, we subcontracted the cabinetry detail, we installed all baseboard/casing, and the homeowner(s) completed the priming and painting.
