USER-FRIENDLY! This old barn door was previously only 8′ wide, and barely big enough to allow the homeowner to pull in his tractor. Besides the limited width, the old wood doors were two 48″ swinging doors that had seen better days. They were sagging from the hinges, suffered from significant rot, and had gaping holes and gaps at the seam. My solution was to widen the jam to allow a standard overhead door installation (9′ wide). After burying a new post and installing a new header, the jam was ready to go! Now the homeowner has a new door that will seal properly against the weather and operate with ease! He has plans to finish the trim in a rustic wood design to match his rustic creations business.
